International students rate University
The University of Bath ranks very highly as a “good place to be” in comparison to other Universities, according to results from the Summer 2008 International Student Barometer (ISB) survey.
The survey has concluded that 88 per cent of international students are satisfied with their experience of living, learning and support at Bath.
Taking place twice a year in over 90 universities worldwide, 25 per cent of international students at the Bath responded to the ISB.
Nicola Peacock, International Student Support Manager, commented, “We are very pleased that 82 per cent of international students at Bath would encourage others to apply.”
Suggestions for improvement echoed the general position of the Students’ Union, citing the bus service, catering provision and academic feedback as some of the main areas that need attention.
Work experience, living costs and the price of accommodation were other areas that caused dissatisfaction, though Peacock cited this as “less within our direct control”.
In response, Ian Jamieson, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Learning & Teaching) added: “If the University is to maintain its position as an important destination for overseas students, then we must take action to improve those aspects where we are performing less well.”
The library, IT support desk and internet access scored highly. Sports facilities and safety also achieved high levels of satisfaction.
